Statement of intent
For my print advertisement, my intentions are to make the
poster around a documentary that focuses on “paranormal activity” and sightings
of “paranormal figures”. I will make
sure that it complies to all rules set out by the ASA for example, it will not
contain any content that could cause any serious offence to any audience. This
is especially important to my project because it would be displayed on
advertisement billboards and/or other sources where audience who are not
intended to see it, might encounter it for example a younger audience – this
could upset or cause discomfort to them. My documentary would be broadcasted
after watershed hours to avoid children and young audience being distressed or
scared by the uncensored content in my documentary.
For the
advertisement of the show to be a success, it needs to avoid being viewed in a
negative way. I will avoid a negative impact on the primary and non-intended
audience by making the advertisement nongraphic or gory but remain in a serious
manner. This will mean not including graphic or inappropriate material on the
covers. I will try and create an eery setting without the graphic material such
as an abandoned background and figures/ silhouettes. The posters will mainly
contain men on the covers because of the horror genre appealing more to the
male gender: this should help attract more of the primary audience
The show will appeal
to the target audience of 16–25-year-olds by only containing people who are a
part of this age gap on the posters, for example horror stories for curious and
imaginative teens. This is effective because horror films and shows are gaining
popularity from the younger generation which means a horror documentary will be
beneficial to help them learn the real-life horrors that exist in some areas of
the world. This will make the age gap
feel represented in what they enjoy watching on the television and help them
try new things such as documentaries.
