History of documentaries
History of documentaries
documentaries started as simple films of real life, and
they grew into a great way to tell stories. Some films from the past are still
famous today because they changed the way people see the world.
One of the oldest classics is Nanook of the North (1922).
It followed the life of a man living in the Arctic. It was the first time a
movie showed how someone else lived in a faraway place. Even though it is over
100 years old, it is still talked about because it started the idea of reality
films. It showed that people are curious about how others survive in tough
spots.
Another famous film is The Thin Blue Line (1988). This
movie is a classic because it saved a man’s life. It investigated a murder case
and proved that a man in prison was innocent. This film made the True
Crime genre popular. It showed that a documentary isn't just for learning.
Certain documentaries stay popular because they
feel personal or relatable to the audience. Whether it is a movie about
nature or a mystery, we enjoy them because they show us that a real-life story
can touch the audience more than a fictional film either in a happy or sad
manner, because we know it’s real. These classics are still remembered because
they were the first to show us the power of a true story.
